The Hankook Dubai24H is held on one of the most modern and challenging tracks in the world and attracts a huge global audience both in person and those streaming and watching on their devices too. We here at Webheads were glad to be able to help with sponsorship of the Dubai 24h 2020 worldwide event, with our logo appearing on not one but two of the biggest motor manufacturers and car brands in the world. Both Audi and Mercedes cars featured the distinctive Webheads logo racing around the track – a great sight to behold and a testament to the growth and reach of our team.
Of course now as we know at the time of writing, most (practically all) motorsport and sporting events have been cancelled or postponed for the immediate future as the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak takes hold. In their absence, iRacing and eSports have since risen in popularity – offering racers, fans and spectators alike the chance to virtually be back on the track and on the pulse of the action; albeit in the digital as opposed to physical space.
This showcases a potential angle for the motorsport industry going forward in that it can still offer a diluted digital experience to those who are interested in times like this. While it is nothing new (think of the popularity of fantasy football for example as the soccer equipment); it does highlight how technology and digital media can help bridge the gap from the most adrenaline-inducing and high octane action by recreating this with cutting edge graphics, renders, technology and essentially virtual reality aspects. So while we had a physical presence at the Dubai 24h 2020, it is quite possible our logo will be appearing on some computer generated cars in time to come . . .
